Ohana means family! Kevin Robaina had a sweet surprise for his partner, Andy Padron, when the two chose Disney World as the setting for their baby gender reveal.
In a clip that Robaina shared on his social media channels last month, the proud parents-to-be are assisted by a Hawaiian shirt-clad Mickey Mouse as they drum up excitement over their big announcement at the Ohana restaurant at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
The trio pose for photos as Mickey presents the couple with a giant red-and-black box, which contains their baby’s first pair of Mickey ears, along with a sign that reads, “It’s a boy!” As Padron excitedly thanks Mickey for his help, Robaina sneakily drops down on one knee, repeatedly kisses her baby bump, and pulls out a diamond ring.
“I was so thrilled to find out we were having a boy, and when he was kissing my belly, I thought he must have been so excited too, because he really wanted to have a boy,” Padron, 28, tells The Knot. “My glasses were so foggy from the crying, so I couldn’t really see anything. I knew he had something in his hand, but I didn’t know what it was. Then all of a sudden, I was like, ‘Oh, my God, he’s holding a ring!’”
Padron explains that she was so surprised by the proposal that she had no words, and couldn’t do anything but hug Robaina, 26—that is, until, she says, someone at the restaurant shouted, “‘Did she say yes?’ And that’s when I was like, ‘Oh! Yes! Yes, of course yes.’”
The bride-to-be adds that her entire family knew about the proposal for months before it happened, but that she had been completely clueless. “One time he got a letter at the house from the jewelry company,” Padron remembers. “And he convinced me that someone had stolen his identity. His mom was trying to convince me too!”
According to Padron, the south Florida-based lovebirds plan on focusing their time and energy on the baby first before jumping into any wedding planning, though they already know where and when they want to exchange their vows: At a cabin in North Carolina, with a Haunted Mansion-themed wedding, two years from now.
As for their son’s baby shower in August? The couple are proud to keep their Disney theme going strong. “It’ll be Toy Story themed!” Padron says.
