Grab your Minnie ears and those beers. Disneyland, for the first time in its 63-year history, will be serving alcohol in its park starting summer 2019.
Disney announced that cocktails will be available at the Star Wars-themed Oga’s Cantina when Galaxy’s Edge opens next summer. Of course this option will only be available to visitors over the age of 21, so grab your friends and make your way to the up-and-coming Star Wars section for a brew.
Alcohol is currently available at the members-only lounge known as Club 33, but the masses will appreciate an experiential element for their bachelorette parties.
“We felt this was an opportunity to offer alcohol- and non-alcohol-based beverages in the context of the story,” a rep for the park told the Orange County Register.
On the Disney Parks blog, it’s teased that Oga’s is “the kind of establishment that attracts some of the most interesting and disreputable characters in the galaxy.” Based on the setting within the films, even the cocktails will be served in “unique vessels.” The cantina will also be a destination at Disney World as well.
Disney World, which first allowed alcohol to be served in its parks in 2012 at Be Our Guest, further loosened its policy this past spring to allow alcoholic beverages within all sit-down restaurants in Magic Kingdom.
