This is no hotline fling. Drake, the Grammy Award-winning, record-smashing rapper who once starred on Degrassi: The Next Generation, revealed a rather romantic side of himself in a new interview published Wednesday, November 8.
The “Hotline Bling” hitmaker, 31, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about a range of topics, including his buzzed-about personal life, and some of the high-profile names he’s been linked to, including Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna. Despite the short-lived, alleged conquests, Drake has been focused throughout on the bigger picture of finding a life partner.
While her identity remains unclear, the rapper revealed that he’s been collecting Hermès Birkin bags for a few years, a luxurious gesture for “the woman I end up with,” he said.
The iconic French handbag, named after actress Jane Birkin, starts at $5,000, and can retail for up to several hundreds of thousands of dollars. Christie’s Hong Kong set a handbag record in June, after auctioning off an incredibly rare Birkin made of white Himalaya Niloticus crocodile for nearly $380,000. The piece included more than 240 diamonds with the hardware comprised of 18-karat gold.
When it comes to Drake’s current relationship status, though, the rapper deflected questions from THR. “You just got to call the kid and find out,” he laughed. “Call me this evening, and I’ll show you.”
