Duck Dynasty star Rebecca Robertson announced her New Years Eve engagement to John Reed Loflin on Instagram yesterday, sharing a cartoon of how Johnreed proposed along with a peek at her unique engagement ring!

In first image Rebecca shared, the newly-engaged couple stand with their arms wrapped around each other facing the ocean. Written in the sand is “2016 OUR STORY STARTS HERE,” and the soon-to-be bride captioned the photo, “Our story starts here…I said yes to my best friend for life.”

Creatively sharing their proposal story, Rebecca’s first page of her new 2016 journal tells exactly what happened. With a doodling of an engagement ring and a cartoon of the couple the journal starts, “Happy New Year 2016. First page, first day… Best year award goes to… 2016.”

Inside the drawing of the ring, whose traditional, solitary diamond design looks very different from Rebecca’s new rock, the Duck Dynasty daughter confirmed the date and time of the proposal as 4:30 on New Years Eve. To the left of the drawings is a beautiful seashell, a small snapshot of the couple kissing, and Rebecca’s hand showing off her unique oval engagement ring.

“After long time of patiently searching, I found the ultimate gem // Jeremiah 29:11,” she captioned the photo.

The cartoon shows how Johnreed and Rebecca were walking on the beach looking for shells when he popped the question. “Looking for shells” the notes say next to Rebecca’s caricature, “clueless.” Johnreed dropped to one knee and after placing the engagement ring inside a shell he presented it to Rebecca.

“There is something in this shell!” Johnreed’s cartoon is saying, to which Rebecca’s replies, “Ew…Is it a slug?” She of course said yes once she realized that inside that seashell was a beautiful gemstone and metal ring created with the help of her future husband by Chicago-based jewelry designer and metalsmith Lindsay Lewis.

“Recently designed this engagement ring for @rebeccalorobertson. I love how non traditional it is!” wrote Lewis on an Instagram photo showing off all the unique aspects of Rebecca’s gorgeous ring. Sharing the design’s details Lewis added, “It’s 14k, opal, gray and white diamonds.”

The groom-to-be Johnreed thanked Lewis by commenting, “The ring is everything and more!” while Rebecca wrote, “Thank you so much!! I am absolutely in love with my ring, it couldn’t be any more perfect. @johnreedloflin @thefinerynola @lindsaylewis__ y’all did an amazing job.”

The Taiwan-born foster daughter of Duck Dynasty royalty Korie and Willie Robertson, Rebecca was welcomed onto the A&E series at the start of the fifth season. Though she appeared on the show for the first time at age 24, Rebecca first visited the family in 2004 as a foreign exchange student, staying with the family and later becoming the Robertson’s foster daughter.

After graduating from Louisiana State University with a degree in fashion design Rebecca left Louisiana for California to gain experience in the fashion industry. Her fashion blog quickly turned into a career when she and her mother Korie launched a modern Louisiana boutique of the same name – Duck & Dressing – in 2013. The boutique remains Rebecca’s main career focus.

Rebecca and Johnreed weren’t the only ones sharing their engagement news, the couple also received a hearty congratulations from Duck Dynasty sweetheart and Rebecca’s younger sister Sadie Robertson on Instagram. “MY SISTER IS GETTING MARRIED TO HER BEST FRIEND!!!! I’m so happy for you Rebecca,” Sadie wrote. “John Reed… good luck joining our crazy family. So excited for y’all to began y’alls journey of life together.”

But the Duck Dynasty family is no stranger to engagement celebrations! Just over a week before Rebecca and Johnreed became engaged, Rebecca and Sadie’s cousin Reed Robertson proposed to his girlfriend Brighton Johnson in New York’s Central Park!

The two snapped a clever POV shot of Reed’s ring presentation during the December 22, 2015 proposal with Brighton writing, “This is my fiancé Reed, he told me he loves me so much he’s giving me his last name. And I said YES!” Reed also shared the image writing, “I couldn’t be more excited to marry this amazing woman. My fiancé is a babe in every way.”

Sadie shared her excitement for their proposal, captioning a photo of her and Brighton, “YAYYYYYYYY ANOTHER WEDDING IN THE FAM WITH ANOTHER ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS AHHHHHH!!! I love you B! you are going to be a beautiful bride. I can’t wait for this incredible journey!!” The photo shows the Duck Dynasty daughter and her soon-to-be cousin-in-law grinning ear to ear while Brighton shows off her more traditional diamond engagement ring.

Congratulations to the Duck Dynasty Robertson family, Rebecca and Johnreed, and Reed and Brighton on your new engagements!
