Reed Robertson may have proposed to Brighton Thompson back in December of 2015, but the Duck Dynasty relative and his fiancee waited until March to capture some sentimental Spring engagement photos and share the images, along with some wedding details with The Knot.
It may look like just another pretty backdrop, but the spot that Reed and Brighton chose for their engagement photo session means so much more to the pair. Brighton disclosed to The Knot that the property was recently purchased by her parents who are building a new home there, and the couple plan on living there as well.
“We aren’t living with my parents, there is a little log cabin house that will be just perfect for us,” Brighton told The Knot. “It’s really really beautiful, it kind of reminds me of the movie The Last Song with the long tree lined driveway.” She also revealed that this location where she and Reed would be having their wedding ceremony!
“It is significant because it is also where we are getting married and where we will be starting our lives together,” she said, adding that they would be staying in the little log cabin for “the first few months of our marriage.”

Taking a moment off from her Spring Break to snap the beautiful photos with photographer Carolynn Siebert, Brighton recalled her favorite moment of the Saturday, March 5 shoot as the drive to the property.
“I can remember looking over at Reed and thinking ‘Wow! I cannot believe we are actually on our way to take engagement pictures!’ It honestly was kind of mind-blowing but such a wonderful feeling.,” she shared with The Knot. “It’s one of those moments that you picture happening your whole life and when it’s really happening you’re just kind of in awe.”
Brighton explained that she and Reed have been dating for nearly five years, “so it is definitely an accomplishing feeling to be moving towards marriage.” She added, “Just knowing without a doubt that I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with Reed is my favorite part.”
Though Reed and Brighton’s parents were not invited to join the couple during their engagement photo shoot (making it that much more special), the bride-to-be did get some style advice from her mother and future mother-in-law before the photography session.

“It was kind of hard picking out outfits just because I wanted these pictures to be perfect because we’ve never had professional pictures of the two of us, but I had a lot of help from my mom and my future mother-in-law thankfully!” Brighton told The Knot. “For the theme I wanted it to be really bright and fun and capture the love that me and Reed share for each other. Our photographer did an absolutely amazing job at doing that!”
Though she found it difficult to pick her favorite picture, the one below eventually made it to the top spot when Brighton said, “I love this one because I think it really perfectly portrays the love we have for each other.”

As for wedding planning, Brighton told The Knot, “I am a HUGE planner so as soon as we got in engaged I was planning full force.” The couple announced their December 22, 2015 engagement with a photo of Reed down on one knee on Brighton’s Instagram account, and with another, point-of-view proposal picture shared by both Reed and his new fiancee.
“Right now it’s much slower because I planned so much in the beginning and now it’s just the little details,” Brighton said, sharing that she and her fiance’s cousin, Duck Dynasty’s Rebecca Robertson, chat about their upcoming wedding plans when they get the opportunity.
“Me and Rebecca talk wedding on the few chances we get to see each other. We are both out of town a lot and very busy but when we are together that’s mostly what the conversation consist of!” Brighton told The Knot. “We do help each other out and we’ve shared little tips every now and then to one another. I’m so excited to see her wedding, it’s Rebecca so I know it will without a doubt be fabulous!”
While Rebecca and her fiance John Reed Loflin are planning a tropical wedding, Brighton let The Knot know that summer sun was not in the plans for she and her handsome beau.

“I can tell you we are having a fall wedding and we have a bridal party of 11 bridesmaids and groomsmen each!” Explaining that the couple both have very big families the bride-to-be added, “the whole bridal party with all the junior bridesmaids, ring bearers, flower girls, etc. will be even bigger than that! But the more the merrier honestly!”
If these beautiful photos came from their engagement photo shoot, we can’t wait to see what Reed Robertson and Brighton Thompson’s wedding photos will look like at the same location in the fall!
