It’s the year of love for Dancing With the Stars couples. Pro pair Emma Slater and Sasha Farber got engaged on ABC’s beloved competition series on Tuesday, October 4, and the entire proposal was caught on live television.
Viewers first enjoyed a sultry routine from Slater, 27, and Farber, 33, who have been dating for the last five years. After the couple delivered their dance, host Tom Bergeron expressed a few sweet notes about the pair.
“First of all, you guys have great chemistry,” Bergeron told the future bride and groom. “And Sasha, I’ve always thought you had the potential to actually host, so I’m going to give the show over to you.”
Farber then took over, gazing into Slater’s eyes and gripping both of her hands. The blonde beauty knew exactly what was about to happen as she started simultaneously laughing and tearing up before the animated live audience.
“Baby, I’ve been wanting to do this for such a long time,” Farber professed to Slater. “I love you so, so much. Will you marry me?”
Farber pulled Slater in for a quick kiss, then he pulled out a ring from his back pocket and got down on one knee. The crowd roared as Slater nodded yes and adorably embraced her future husband.
Producers were prepared for the epic moment. Confetti came tumbling down from inside the studio ceiling and Bruno Mars’ smash hit “Just the Way You Are” blared in the background. On the screen, the message read: “She said YES!” The newly-engaged couple’s colleagues then rushed to the stage to congratulate the pair.
