All eyes were on the bride and groom at a recent Irish wedding until Ed Sheeran and Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid took center stage.
McDaid’s sister Brid wed her fiance, Sandy, at the Beech Hill Country House Hotel in Londonderry, Northern Ireland on Sunday, August 28. When it was time for the couple’s first dance, Sheeran, 25, and the bride’s brother performed a live rendition of Snow Patrol’s 2006 hit, “Chasing Cars.”
The wedding band, Rubix, caught the talented duo’s performance on video before joining them onstage for a full 30 minute set. According to Irish website JOE.ie, McDaid’s band mates also took the stage to perform, belting out well-known tunes including a Stevie Wonder hit.
“They needed a bass player and guitar player, so our guys joined them for it and a cover of Superstition,” Rubix lead singer, Aaron Hughes, told the online outlet. “Our guys being big fans of both Ed and Snow Patrol were chuffed.”
The set also included Sheeran’s 2014 song, “Tenerife Sea,” according to the Irish Independent – which the Grammy Award-winning artist co-wrote with McDaid.
As if there weren’t enough famous faces at the Irish wedding, McDaid, 40, brought his fiancee Courteney Cox and her daughter CoCo along.
It seems unlikely that wedding guests will forget this star-studded celebration anytime soon. See the video above!
