Destined to be linked in love. Elsa Pataky recently revealed to Vogue Australia that she carried a metaphorical torch for her now-husband, Chris Hemsworth, long before the pair had even met.
“Yes, it’s about Thor and I ended up marrying [the man] who plays Thor!” she told the magazine with a laugh. (Hemsworth, 34, played the Marvel Comics character for the first time back in 2011. He has since reprised his role in numerous sequels and prequels). “It is shocking how in life [things turn out]. I just liked that [symbol] and the legend he had was so beautiful and I wanted to keep it.”
The 41-year-old Spanish actress sports the tiny tattoo on her right bicep; she got the ink as a 15-year-old. She wouldn’t meet Hemsworth until she was 33, when they were introduced to one another by talent agent William Ward in early 2010. They married three months later, and Hemsworth would appear on the big screen as the Nose god in 2011.
It’s not Pataky’s only tattoo with a direct tie to Hemsworth, however. The actress also sports a letter “C” on her ring finger in the same spot that Hemsworth has an “E”; the longtime lovers even gave each other the tattoos themselves.
Pataky also has symbols for each of her family member’s initials on her forearm, three dots on her finger representing her “three best girls,” and a cresting wave that she got with two gal pals and Miley Cyrus, her soon-to-be sister-in-law via Hemsworth’s younger brother Liam.
Though the couple has rocked a solid relationship for the last eight years, there was no particular “light-bulb moment” that informed one or the other that they were meant to be. It just was (much like Pataky’s tattoo!).
“From the first time we met, we just made sense,” Hemsworth told Elle back in December 2015. “She’s fun. She’s outgoing, and she has a sense of humor and a passionate attitude toward life, which is nice to try to keep up with.”
The pair share three young kids: sons Sasha and Tristan and daughter India Rose.
