Leave it to John Krasinski and Emily Blunt to have a perfectly adorable love story. While promoting their movie A Quiet Place, the A-list spouses have divulged sweet new details about their romance, including the actor’s recollection of his encounter with an incredulous customs agent who couldn’t believe he was married to Blunt.
On Wednesday, it was Blunt’s turn to reveal a new snippet about their relationship with the public. While many already know that Krasinski was a bona fide, longtime fan of The Devil Wears Prada, Blunt was also aware of the actor’s existence prior to meeting him in person.
“I sort of binge-watched the American Office. Loved it,” she admitted to Seth Meyers, who then asked how the pair first met.
“It’s kind of a sad, lame story. Not sad. It’s kind of lame,” Blunt replied. “I was in a restaurant, he was in the restaurant, I was sitting with a mutual friend… This is our romantic comedy! Write it [down!]”
Mid meal, Blunt’s dinner mate recognized a fellow restaurant patron. “My friend goes, ‘Oh my God, there’s my friend John!’” the actress recalled. “It’s golden. It’s cinema gold… He was actually sitting with our friend Justin Theroux.”
Krasinski, who already had a big crush on Blunt at the time, then made his way over to chat with the ladies. “Then he abandoned Justin and came over to come and talk to us. He did not eat,” Blunt joked of her husband. “And he just stood there, and made me laugh. He just did a bit.”
The two now share daughters Violet and Hazel, and they recently relocated to New York City. “We were really nervous to work together,” Blunt said to Meyers of their horror flick A Quiet Place. “[But] people have just been incredible about it.”
