Welcome to the jungle! Newlyweds Emmy Rossum and Sam Esmail are living it up in the most beautiful and remote areas of Rwanda after marrying in New York City last week.
The Shameless star, 30, and her screenwriter hubby, 39, are documenting the honeymoon adventure on Instagram, and the images are stunning.
Rossum—an animal lover and advocate—posted a trio of snaps of the jungle’s gorillas along with a video of the amazing creatures. “Trekked into the mountains in Rwanda with the park rangers who dedicate their lives to the protection and conservation of the mountain gorillas,” she wrote. “Truly [a] once in a lifetime experience learning how to respect, understand and communicate with them.”
The actress followed up with a series of equally breathtaking snaps, including cheetahs, zebras and antelopes.
Esmail dubbed the trip “Safari Rossum.”

The newlyweds also ventured into the streets of the East African country. “The beautiful faces of Rwanda,” Rossum captioned a snap of local children.

Rossum and Esmail fell in love after Esmail directed Rossum in the 2014 film, Comet. The Phantom of the Opera actress recalled the proposal in an interview with Chelsea Handler. “I happened to be in the bathtub when it happened,” she said. “Then I realized that it was happening, and then I got out of the bathtub because I didn’t want the story to be that I was in the bathtub when it was happening. And then I got cold as it was still going on, got back in the bathtub. It was a comedy of errors, but it all worked out.”
