Here comes… a brand new launch from Essie. The beloved nail polish brand has released a new gel couture sheer silhouettes collection ahead of proposal season (the ring selfie is a must!) as well as all of the romantic weddings slated for this upcoming fall and winter.
The six-piece collection, inspired by couture lingerie, follows typical Essie naming conventions with fun monickers for each hue such as “Lace is More” and “Bodice Goddess.”
The sheer, see-through colors—ranging from a cherry-toned soft pink (Gossamer Garments) to a sightly shimmery beige nude staple (Last Nightie)—are perfect for weddings and bridal events since the polishes layer on beautifully as evidenced in the video below. Like the brand’s previous gel couture launches, no base coat is necessary and Essie recommends applying two coats of any of its sheer couture colors followed by the collection’s top coat.
To further maximize your seasonal bridal manicure knowledge, The Knot tapped Paintbox Creative Director and celeb manicurist Julie Kandalec to share her expertise about the hottest bridal mani trends this fall and winter—and her pick for the most timeless nail art aesthetic.
What is the most timeless nail art option for a classic wedding day manicure?
I would have to a say a soft French manicure, but please be careful and notice the contrast between the shades. If you decide to go with a bright white, the entire nail art look changes and takes away from that effortless, timeless look.
What are some ideal combos with the gel sheers for bridal manis?
This really depends on a person’s skin tone… I recommend layering a sheer shade with a shade that has some shimmer. (For example, “Last Nightie” with “Of Corset.”)
What is the ideal color from sheers for a fall wedding? How about a winter wedding?
For a fall wedding, I love “Last Nightie,” because the hint of lilac will really stand out–not to mention the shimmer. For winter, “Lace is More” is perfect.
What is the most popular style of bridal mani that you’re seeing from your end?
Simple nail art, which is very exciting! A lot of brides tend to go with a solid color, but subtle nail art is also very fitting for the occasion.
