George Clooney doesn’t open up about his personal life often, but when he does, it’s heartwarming, to say the least. The actor recently told The Associated Press that though he’s having a tough time adjusting to fatherhood, his wife, Amal Clooney, has stepped into the role effortlessly.
“She’s like an Olympic athlete,” he said. “She’s doing so beautifully.”
George, 56, and Amal, 39, welcomed their twins to the world back in June, and have largely kept their family life out of the spotlight. But in the recent interview with the AP, Clooney admitted to having to deal with the typical issues that any first-time might face.
“Right now my job is changing diapers and walking them around a little bit,” he said of twins Ella and Alexander. “I really didn’t think at 56 that I would be the parent of twins. Don’t make plans. You always have to just enjoy the ride.”
Joked the Academy Award-winning actor, “I just have to clean the barf off of my tux. It used to be my barf but now it’s the twins’ barf. So it all works out.”
George and Amal got married in September 2014 in Venice, Italy, following a whirlwind courtship after the pair met at a charity fundraiser in 2013. Their guest list was a veritable who’s who of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Bono, Cindy Crawford, Rande Gerber, Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso and more.
