The countdown is on for the highly-anticipated Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life event on Netflix! Ahead of the November 25 premiere, a new emotionally charged trailer gives fans of mother-daughter duo Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) a sneak peek of the four-part series.
In the trailer, Rory–who is all grown up since we last saw her back in 2007–returns to Stars Hollow after losing her job. She’s reflecting on her life, confiding in loved ones, and hoping to find some clarity for her future.
“I’m feeling very lost these days,” Rory admits in one scene. “I have no job, I have no credit, I have no underwear… I could’ve been a contender.”
And Rory isn’t the only Gilmore Girl on a soul-searching mission. Her mom and best friend, Lorelai, is questioning her life’s path as well.
“I thought I knew exactly what I wanted, but lately things seem hazier,” Lorelai says in a clip. She adds: “We’re happy… Luke and I are happy,” but the look on her face tells another story.
Interestingly enough, there’s a scene that shows Lorelai surrounded by wedding-related images and fabrics. Could she be planning a spectacular wedding–and for whom?

Lorelai’s mother, Emily (Kelly Bishop), is also struggling after losing her husband, Richard (Edward Herrmann). “I don’t know how to do this; half of me is gone,” she says after the camera pans to a funeral scene.
Despite its sad moments, the trailer also promises lots of love and laughter. There will be no shortage of “cute boys, cocktail hours, and coffee,” and another Gilmore Girls staple… takeout!
“Did we order Chinese, Greek, and Italian food last night?” Lorelai asks Rory during a breakfast scene.
“And hotdogs,” Rory replies.
“Ugh, last night’s a blur,” Lorelai says in disgust.
