Scott Patterson has that newlywed glow! The actor, who plays Luke on Gilmore Girls, reacted to his character’s surprise wedding to Lorelai (Lauren Graham) following the Netflix series’ revival, which premiered Friday, November 25.
As recalled, longtime loves Luke and Lorelai finally exchanged vows in a late-night ceremony on the final episode of the four-part series. The beloved television couple married under twinkling lights decorated the scenic gazebo located in the center of Stars Hollow. Rory (Alexis Bledel), Michel (Yanic Truesdale), and Lane (Keiko Agent) witnessed the nuptials.
“[It felt] pretty good, pretty good, yeah,” Patterson told Entertainment Tonight last week. “And the way we did it was pretty clever I thought. I think it was the most personal way to do it and it had the most dramatic impact.”
In an emotional mother-daughter moment, Lorelai memorably comforted Rory—fresh from another breakup—by telling her daughter that she would someday end up with the love of her life. “It needs to fit… believe me,” Lorelai said in the scene. “He’ll find someone amazing one day—and so will you.”

After a decade-long hiatus from the role of Luke, Patterson admitted that he had to transition back into his character. “You know, when I put the hat on, the clothes, the flannel, the whole thing, I thought it was going to instantly kick back in and it didn’t,” he confessed to ET. Unfortunately, it took more than swapping clothes to bring back the chemistry with Lorelai.
“My first scene of the whole thing… I just didn’t feel like the guy,” Patterson recalled. “So I asked Amy if I could take a walk around Stars Hollow and sort of get the old scent back. It took about 10 minutes and tried to relive some things, and I thought, ‘Oh gosh, I’m in big trouble,’ and then I walked back into the diner and then all of a sudden it clicked in and it was pretty smooth sailing from that point on.”
