Happy decade of love to Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady. The supermodel and the superstar quarterback both took to Instagram Tuesday, February 26, to mark their 10-year wedding anniversary with a series of new snapshots from their nuptials.
“Ten years ago, I didn’t realize how much I could love you and the family we created together,” Brady expressed. “My heart is so full and I am so blessed!”
The athlete, who just brought the New England Patriots to Super Bowl Victory again earlier this month, acknowledged that marriage isn’t simple. “I know our journey has not been easy, but the challenges we have overcome have made our bond stronger and our love grow deeper,” he noted. “Thank you for loving me, for supporting my dreams, and for nurturing our family in the way that only you could. You are my rock, my love and my light! I love you and I love our family!”
He ended his post with a hashtag of support, referring to his wife as “boss lady.”
Bündchen also commemorated the momentous occasion with a slideshow with her husband on their wedding day. “I can’t believe it’s already been 10 years since we’ve chosen to walk this life together… and what incredible 10 years we’ve had!”
“There is nothing that I love more in this world than you and our family,” she wrote. “Thank you for being on this journey with me and for doing the work that it takes to make it so special. May we continue growing together, walking side by side supporting and loving one another for many many years to come.”
The couple first met on a blind date. “You know, when I saw those kind eyes, I literally fell in love, like, right away,” she revealed to Jimmy Fallon previously. “I was like, ‘What?’ He was just… you know how sweet he is.”
In her 2018 memoir, Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life, the model opened up about her wedding festivities in Costa Rica. The couple married first in a formal church wedding in February 2009. “Our wedding took place at sunset on a warm day in early April,” she wrote of the party. “Before the ceremony, my sister Fafi helped me do my hair. I wore waterproof mascara since I knew I was going to cry—because I always cry!—and it wouldn’t have been a pretty sight having raccoon eyes at my own wedding.”
The nuptials and after-party took place at the couple’s home in Santa Teresa. “On a nearby table strewn with candles and assorted crystals sat two bowls, one containing honey and the other rice. The honey, it is said, would sweeten our future, and the rice anticipates prosperity,” she wrote. “I wore a simple white slip dress. My feet were bare. “The ceremony was brief, and the last words anyone heard were: For the pillars of the temple stand apart / And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.”
The two now share children Vivian and Benjamin as well as Jack, Brady’s son from a previous relationship.
