Golden Tate is officially off the market! The Detroit Lions wide receiver, 28, married his longtime love, Elise Pollard, in Mexico on Saturday, March 11, his rep exclusively confirms to The Knot.
The couple exchanged vows in front of their closest friends and family during the seaside ceremony. The bride designed every aspect of her custom gown, and dressmaker Olga Szwed brought the wedding dress vision to life.
Pollard had plenty of support from her bridesmaids, who accompanied her to 10+ fittings and appointments leading up to the big day. She documented the planning process using the hashtag #agoldenliseonlife on social media.
The duo got engaged in September 2015 after Tate meticulously planned the surprise proposal. The Lions’ season opener just happened to be in San Diego–where Pollard’s family lives–giving Tate the perfect opportunity to pop the question.
Pollard was shocked, not only by the proposal and surprise after-party, but by her custom engagement ring. “It had to be stunning to match her, so I worked with Chase Gregory, who does amazing custom jewelry out of Los Angeles, to create her dream ring,” Tate told The Knot post-proposal. “I like to think I’ve got some style, so I just created what I thought would be amazing on her. It worked out. She’s obsessed with it.”
The newlyweds are no strangers to heartwarming love stories. They have helped orchestrate proposals for veterans through their Golden Future Foundation on multiple occasions. “We have family who have served–both my grandfather and Elise’s grandfather served [in the military],” Tate told The Knot last year. “We want to educate people as much as we can, and lift our men and women up as much as we can and help them.”
