You know you loved it! CW’s beloved teen drama Gossip Girl officially turned 10 on September 19, 2017, but somehow, the numerous weddings that were featured through all six seasons of the series still remain timeless.
The show, adapted from Cecily von Ziegesar’s novels about privileged Upper East Siders, thrived off the dramatic events that unfolded and affected one particularly good-looking entourage of Manhattan’s elite. Heart-wrenching love stories were just one part of the narrative, culminating in the form of numerous engagements and weddings spanning all six seasons. (Only some relationships, however, were intended to last.)
“Serena and Dan were the original couple because they’re in the pilot,” Josh Schwartz, who co-created the show with Stephanie Savage, told Vulture in a recent interview. “But it was always Chuck and Blair, and we always loved writing for them. As soon as we saw the moment of him and Leighton side-by-side, plotting the downfall of Dan Humphrey, it was like, ‘Oh, this has possibilities beyond where we had started from,’ and we wanted to make that correction quickly.”
In the final season, Waldorf broke off her wedding to Louis (whose name, of course, reflects his royal lineage as the Prince of Monaco). She eventually ended up with the one true love of her life—Chuck Bass—and the two schemers opted for the antithesis of a society wedding. They married before an intimate group of friends and family members in Central Park in an impromptu ceremony. Below, The Knot looks back at the weddings featured in the final season.
Louis and Blair’s Wedding
Waldorf looked resplendent in an A-line, Chantilly lace gown by Vera Wang for her lavish NYC wedding to the Prince of Monaco. The piece, which came from Wang’s fall 2010 bridal collection, included a sash comprised of horsehair. “It’s phenomenal,” costume designer Eric Daman told InStyle. “It has that kind of bravado and gorgeousness and is also subtle and beautiful.”
Blair and Chuck’s Wedding
The bride wore blue! For her park ceremony to Chuck Bass, Blair Waldorf looked lovely in a light blue, long-sleeve lace gown by Elie Saab. She paired her outfit with a headpiece by Jennifer Behr, befitting for Blair, who set headband trends throughout the show’s run.
Serena and Dan’s Wedding
In the final scene of the series, the show’s original couple ended up marrying years after Blair and Chuck exchanged vows. By then, Blair and Chuck had welcomed their first child together, and baby Bass made an appearance in the final moments of the show.
