One big rock for one less lonely girl. Model Hailey Baldwin decided the golden opportunity to debut a close-up of her engagement ring for Justin Bieber was during her cover shoot for the September issue of Vogue México.
On Thursday, August 23, the shot was revealed of Baldwin casually posing with her left hand displayed in front of her with her large, oval-shape ring from Bieber in full view. The jeweler behind the piece, Jack Solow of Solow & Co. Inc Diamond Jewelers, revealed details about the 4-5 carat diamond, which Bieber approved in person.
“Justin had a big hand in it,” Solow said in a subsequent interview. “He had certain design elements that he wanted and he had certain expectations and I think we delivered… It was about the diamond. I think he knew very well what Hailey wanted in a ring, but he wanted it very much to be about a very special diamond. He left it in my hands to try and select the most beautiful diamond for someone like Hailey.”
In fact, Bieber thought the stone—oddly enough and up close—resembled his future wife. “There was one moment when he looked into the diamond and I said, ‘What do you see inside that diamond?’” the jeweler said. “He goes, ‘I think I see Hailey’s face,’ so that was kind of cute.”
The piece resembles Blake Lively’s pink diamond oval ring from Ryan Reynolds. Bieber’s longtime manager Scooter Braun was the one to facilitate the introduction to Solow. “I was very genuinely excited for him,” Solow told E! News in mid-July. “And I had heard that he was with somebody very, very special and that they had bonded over personal things and I was just very, very happy like I would be for any young man who’s on that next stop of his life.”
Since Bieber’s surprising proposal, the couple has been inseparable as they’re currently prepping for their wedding. In the interim, the pop superstar was spotted carrying a copy of Tim Keller’s The Meaning of Marriage.
