Hailey Baldwin’s left hand just got a whole lot heavier. The 21-year-old model was recently spotted partying in the Bahamas with her boo, Justin Bieber, on Sunday, with what looked to be one heck of a huge engagement ring.
Baldwin, 21, and Bieber, 24, are rumored to have gotten engaged on their tropical getaway, though neither star has yet confirmed the happy news (Baldwin’s father, Stephen Baldwin, sort of did, however, though he deleted his celebratory tweet just seconds after posting it). But even if the lovebirds haven’t released an official statement just yet, Baldwin’s bling should be statement enough.
According to an expert over at Simon G. Jewelry, the diamond on Baldwin’s hand could be worth more than $200,000, based on an initial glance at photos of her and Bieber dancing in the Bahamas.
“The best I can tell from the pictures, it looks like a large oval diamond center stone in a modern, sleek pave setting,” the jeweler tells us. “The design lets the impressive diamond take center stage. This is very in-line with the trends we have been seeing recently: simple and delicate details on the engagement ring, more focus on larger center stones and less emphasis on halos. Also, yellow and rose gold have been increasing in popularity.”
Simon G. also notes that the design bears a good resemblance to Blake Lively’s own engagement ring from now-husband Ryan Reynolds; both feature a large oval center stone. Brilliant Earth, a company dedicated to “cultivating a more transparent, sustainable and compassionate jewelry industry,” found that oval diamonds have grown in popularity more than four times faster than round stones.
“It’s really hard to estimate size, especially since the photos aren’t super high quality, but it is probably at least 4-5 carats,” Simon G. says. “Price always depends on quality of the diamond, but it would be over $200,000.” Kathryn Money, VP, Strategy and Merchandising for Brilliant Earth, estimates the ring to be approximately 5.5-6 carats, and valued between $150,000 to $200,000.
Baldwin and Bieber previously dated but split back in 2016, though they’ve known each other much longer than that. Fans became suspicious that the pair had rekindled their romance when, earlier this summer, they were photographed smooching in Brooklyn, Miami and the Hamptons.
“It’s kind of a surprise, but kind of not,” a source told People of the engagement. “Justin has been extremely happy these past few weeks. He has known Hailey for a long time. This might seem sudden, but they know each other very well.”
