A few days before Tom Kaulitz proposed to Heidi Klum, the supermodel appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show where she unexpectedly touched on the topic of a potential engagement with the longtime show host.
“Has he proposed yet?” DeGeneres inquired in the interview which aired Wednesday, January 2.
“Not that I know of!” Klum laughed in response.
DeGeneres then joked that Kaulitz would propose on New Year’s Eve. Her reasoning—“because that would be the night to do it.” The TV personality then asked Klum if she even wanted to get married to her beau, whom she’s been dating since at least the spring of 2018.
“I’ve been married twice,” Klum mused. “I still believe in love and marriage. I do. Even though I’ve failed twice at it. I guess I’m not very good at it, but I found a great person.“ (Klum was previously married to Ric Pipino and Seal.) “Let’s see what happens,” she concluded.
On Christmas Eve, Klum took to Instagram to announce her engagement to the Tokio Hotel guitarist. “I SAID YES,” she expressed.
The pair first met on the set of Germany’s Next Top Model. In October, the pair went as a movie couple for Klum’s favorite holiday: Halloween.
“He was Shrek and I was Fiona,” she shared. “It took probably, eight nine hours. I always wanted to be Fiona and I never had a Shrek… and now, I have a Shrek.”
