Hey now. On Sunday, December 22, Hilary Duff shared the first pictures from her wedding to husband Matthew Koma. The low-key celebration took place in Duff and Koma’s home and included family and close friends only. But despite the casual nuptials, Hilary Duff rocked two dramatic wedding dresses for the occasion.
The Lizzie McGuire star wore a custom Jenny Packham dress to her wedding ceremony. In a video with Vogue, Duff took fans behind the scenes of her wedding dress process, and explained that she and her stylist, Jessica Paster, went through a list of potential designers before their final decision. To Paster, the partnership was perfect for Duff’s wedding day.
“What I love about Jenny is, I’ve worked with her many times, and I know that the finished dress is always gonna be magical and it’s gonna be perfect,” Paster said in the video. “And she cares, as much as I do, about all of those little details.” (Packham is, of note, one of Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton’s go-to designers for her many public outings.)

It was the details that made the look come together for Duff. In the video, the Younger actress explained that she didn’t want a big dress, but she did want to make a statement. The result was a full-length gown made of ivory stretch crepe with a dramatic fishtail bottom. It features an open back, 100 buttons down the back, saddle shoulder pads and cape-like sleeves that form a train.
“I want Hilary to feel how I think she wanted to feel in this dress from the direction that we had, which is very modern,” Packham said in the video. “It’s quite a bold look. And more than anything I want her to feel immensely confident in it, and it is a very confident look.”
The actress’ gown also had a sweet tribute to her husband and children. On the bottom layer of the dress, Duff had her and Koma’s initials embroidered along with the date of their wedding. She had the initials of her children, Luca and Banks, embroidered as well.
In the video, the Younger star said the gown Packham designed is “everything that she dreamed of.” The bride topped off her day-of look with a delicate Jennifer Behr headband, featuring crystals and pearls. Fans who want to steal the star’s style can shop her wedding looks, below.
