Jason Sudeikis says his fiancee, Olivia Wilde, is out of his league—and he’s okay with that! During a visit to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday, April 3, the comedian recalled the first time he met the actress.
“One of you is so attractive,” Colbert mused. “You’re a funny guy, and you’re a reasonably good-looking man. But she’s a different species.”
Sudeikis, 41, was quick to agree. “Oh, it’s a different thing… Bone structure, skin, teeth, eye color—literally just about everything,” he mused.
The Saturday Night Live alum went on to share the story of his first chance meeting with Wilde in spring 2011. “I met her at a finale party for SNL,” he told the late-night host. “We hit it off that night.”
Despite the instant spark, Sudeikis and Wilde, 33, didn’t start dating until later that year. “I actually came off looking a little cooler than I really am, because I had heard through the grapevine, through mutual friends who weren’t exactly her best girlfriends, who would report back, ‘Oh you know, I think she’s dating someone,’” he recalled. “So I didn’t make any moves. I was just very, very busy with other things. And next thing you know, I stopped being busy, she stopped dating someone, and then it was off to the races.”
He added, “We sort of reintroduced ourselves. The universe had more in store for us in the fall.”
The famous pair got engaged in late 2012, and they now share two children: Otis, 2, and Daisy, 5 months. And while they haven’t announced a wedding date, Wilde has previously said she’s “seriously connected” to her future husband.
She told The Edit last year: “Before you have a child, marriage is the ultimate commitment and promise to one another, and then once you have a child, it’s like, ‘Oh, we’re committed and promised already.'”
