Looking back on the best day of your life is even more entertaining when you get to share those memories with a member of the wedding party. For Jennifer Aniston, that conversation was recently had with comedian Amy Sedaris, a guest and the best man at Aniston and Theroux’s 2015 nuptials.
Sedaris revisited the topic while interviewing Aniston for a Harper’s Bazaar cover story, and the two touched on a variety of wedding-related points, including the mystery dress worn by the Friends alum. “Everyone was dressed like a bunch of woodland creatures,” Sedaris recalled in the frank conversation. “And your dress looked so beautiful and breezy.”
Theroux, who’s best friends with Sedaris, didn’t give the comedian much time to prepare for her role as best man/maid. Beloved late night host Jimmy Kimmel was also part of the ceremony as the officiant. “Justin asked me to be his best man two days before, and I was really scared,” Sedaris said. “Jimmy Kimmel said, ‘Amy, you have one job: Just hand me the rings separately.’ Of course, I handed both to him.”

While on the topic of rings, Aniston looked back on Theroux’s proposal. The actress expressed that she doesn’t have patience or a threshold for drying her nails. “When Justin proposed, he put that freaking ring on my finger,” she cracked, “and I was like, ‘Holy crap, now I’m gonna have to get manicures.’”
The couple’s second wedding anniversary was on August 5, which the Leftovers actor marked with a sweet and rare photo with his wife. “It’s funny,” Aniston told Sedaris. “I just gave Justin our edited video of the wedding for our anniversary, and it was fun to revisit it.”
In marriage, the two have enjoyed the hobby of renovating homes, including Theroux’s NYC apartment in Greenwich Village. “You should have seen Justin,” Aniston recalled to Sedaris of the renovations. “We walked in one day after they’d been doing the demo, and he was like, ‘Holy (expletive). What are we doing?’ And I was like, ‘We’re redoing the house, babe. We gotta take the wall down to put up a nicer one.'”
Lucky for the couple, it’s largely been a pleasant experience. “They say building houses can make or break a couple,” Aniston said. “I was so used to doing it on my own, and there were moments when I was like, ‘Don’t say no so fast.’ I have this dialogue with my interior designer where I’ll go: ‘No. Hate it. Move. Next.’ That can sound a little abrupt, so I had to retool my attitude a bit. It wasn’t very hard because he loved whatever I brought to him.”
Sedaris, meanwhile, certainly approves of Jen and Justin. “I think of you as my sister-in-law,” she told Aniston, “because you’re married to Justin, an old good friend of mine. You took him from New York, and it’s fun to see him so in love and happy.”
