J-Rod’s planning begins. Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez opened up about their new relationship status—hello, engagement!—after the former Yankees player recently proposed in the Bahamas.
“We’re really happy,” Lopez told People. Rodriguez added, “We have [an] appreciation for where we are in our lives today, and that’s what we’re enjoying the most.”
Rodriguez proposed to Lopez at sunset on the beach on March 9, surprising the multi-hyphenate with an eye-catching, emerald cut diamond ring estimated at 15 carats.
“She said yes,” Rodriguez wrote in the couple’s proposal announcement on Instagram, following up days later with an actual photo from the moment when he was down on one knee. “Locking it down,” he added.
“Everything that we do, we do together,” Lopez added to People Wednesday, March 20. “He knows my dreams and I know his dreams, and together we feel like we’re stronger.”
The couple has been rather vocal about their blended families, including the entrepreneur’s two daughters Natasha, 14, and Ella, 10 (whom he shares with his first wife, Cynthia Scurtis), as well as Lopez’s 11-year-old twins Max and Emme.
“We’re constantly supporting each other in our individual endeavors and thinking about all the things that we can build together,” Lopez added.
“We are very grateful,” Rodriguez concluded.
