Jennifer Lopez Wrote the Sweetest Tribute to Alex Rodriguez for Their Two-Year Anniversary

NEW YORK, NY - MAY 07: Jennifer Lopez and AROD attend the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 7, 2018 in New York City.

For a superstar couple as big as Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez (better known as J-Rod), it’s unusual to get too close a glimpse into their personal lives. But on Sunday, February 3, Lopez wore her heart on her sleeve in honor of her two-year anniversary with the former baseball player.

“Two years of laughter,” the singer wrote. “Two years of fun. Two years of adventures Of excitement of growing and learning. Of true friendship. And so much love!!”

“You make my world a more beautiful safe and stable place… in the midst of our ever-changing, ever-moving life… you make me feel like a teenager starting out all over again…” she expressed. “Every time I think I have you pegged, you surprise me in the most wonderful ways reminding me how blessed I am to have found you now in this moment at this time… our time… Te Amo Macho… #atapontheshoulder #2years.”

Lopez, 49, complemented her heartfelt words with a collection of images of the couple cozying up together, with their kids, and a few shots of Rodriguez, 43, looking suave.

The pair first met way back in 2005 at a Yankees game, but it wouldn’t be until about 11 years later when they reconnected in the most serendipitous of ways.

“I almost yelled out ‘Alex,’ but I am the shyest person when it comes to things like that,” Lopez told Vanity Fair in October, of the time she spotted him outside a restaurant in Beverly Hills. “”I could literally have just walked away but I walk over and tap him on the shoulder and say ‘Hey’ … It was just one of those things where you feel compelled to do, something you wouldn’t normally do.”

As the story goes, Rodriguez turned around, smiled, told her she looked beautiful and then called her a few hours later to ask her out to dinner.

In the last two years, the couple have complimented each other frequently on talk shows and in the press, though they’ve hedged around questions of marriage and a timeline.

“It’s obvious, we’ve been having a great time,” Rodriguez said on The View in March 2017. “She’s an amazing girl and one of the smartest human beings I’ve ever met and also an incredible mother.”

Lopez returned the favor on social media, wishing him a happy birthday that same year, “to the man who makes my heart skip a beat every time he walks in the room.”

One year later, by summer 2018, rumors swirled that they were looking to get engaged, but Lopez shot down the reports, telling the Good Morning America hosts that she and Rodriguez were in no rush.

“We have to take our time. I’ve made plenty of mistakes in [the] past, we’re mature now, we’re grown ups, we’re going to take our time and take things at our own pace,” she said. “We’re having the best time between our kids and our work and all the wonderful things going on. We’re truly blessed, we don’t need anything more right now.”

Our prediction, however, is that all signs point toward a possible engagement this year, and Lopez’s gushing Instagram post isn’t doing anything to sway us from that bet.
