Jenny Packham Tells Us Everything About Her New Bridal Collection With L.K. Bennett

For Jenny Packham, partnering with L.K. Bennett for a bridal collection was the next most-logical and reasonable transition for her business. Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has long considered both British brands as her go-to names in fashion, oftentimes stepping out in her favorite, nude L.K. Bennett pumps for public appearances, as well as in Packham’s pieces for more formal outings.

The Kate Effect has, indeed, influenced a new crop of polished, bold and radiant young women, precisely viewed as the target for this particular collaboration. “The L.K. Bennett and Jenny Packham bride is confident, feminine and fashion-forward,” Packham tells The Knot in an exclusive interview. “She is a modern romantic who knows her style… always seeking beautiful craftsmanship especially when it comes to her bridal look; her gown– and this year, her bridal shoes.”

The collection itself was inspired by Old Hollywood icons like Bette Davis and Vivian Leigh, and features 16 different styles of shoes, as well as five unique wedding day clutches, ranging in price from $265 to $745. Read The Knot’s full interview with Packham below.

Tell us how this collaboration formed.

I have always wanted to design bridal shoes and felt L.K. Bennett was exactly the right brand to collaborate with. There is a strong synergy between the L.K. Bennett woman and the Jenny Packham bride so it seemed natural and very exciting to work with their design team.

I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve produced, the collection is beautiful and incorporates the Jenny Packham aesthetic with the renowned design integrity and quality of L.K.Bennett. My favorite pair are Dhalia, an ivory peep toe sandal with a ‘necklace’ of crystals!

The collection is inspired by the ladies of the golden age of cinema. Name some stars who correlate to your favorite pieces—and why?

Old Hollywood icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Vivien Leigh and Bette Davis are so inspiring; their style is romantic and feminine and their glamour mesmerizing. I love the idea of channeling that spirit on your wedding day.

Some of the highest-profile names have worn your designs on the red carpet and at events. Tell us your favorite celebrity moments—and why?

It’s always a fantastic moment for me when someone wears one of our designs. I always design with the occasion in mind so I particularly enjoy creating bespoke pieces; it’s always an exciting challenge for me creatively. We recently designed some looks for Dita Von Teese’s burlesque show.

My favorite piece is a silk chiffon antique pale blue robe covered in Swarovski crystal with hand curled feather sleeves.

In terms of styling on your wedding day, what are some recommendations you have for brides?

Take your time, enjoy it and get a second opinion from someone you trust. Statement accessories add instant glamour, I love the idea of wearing a really interesting shoe on your wedding day like the Fifi. I am firm believer accessories should compliment your look rather than compete with it. If you’re wearing a statement gown, I would suggest a simpler shoe like the Brielle Satin heel.
