Wedding bells are in Jenny Slate and boyfriend Ben Shattuck’s future. On Monday, the actress and comedian took to social media to share the news of her engagement to Shattuck, a writer and art curator.
“He took me to France and made a picnic and made me feel happy and free and then he asked me to marry him and I screamed YES,” the Parks and Recreation alum wrote on Instagram. “I love you @benshattuck_art, you are the kindest and brightest and I am so grateful and here we go and keep going.”
Shattuck shared more details of the romantic proposal in his own post. “In an abandoned castle in southern France, I asked this woman to marry me,” he revealed. “Thank you @jennyslate and UP UP UP to more adventures.”
Both posts featured a slideshow of images from the couple’s trip to France, including the first look at Slate’s engagement ring. The seemingly vintage-inspired dark stone appears to be set on a gold band in a halo of smaller diamonds.
The pair was first spotted together at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2019, and while they’ve maintained privacy throughout their relationship, they publicly attended the Tribeca Film Festival together in May.
This will be the second marriage for Slate. After ending her four-year marriage to comedian Dean Fleischer-Camp in 2016, she dated her Gifted co-star Chris Evans for two years.
