Jesse talks Jofia! Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday, May 26, and offered up new details about Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello’s star-studded Palm Beach wedding.
Ferguson jokingly called out DeGeneres for missing Vergara’s opulent, 400-guest wedding. “I heard you were invited and chose not to come,” he noted to the talk-show host. Vergara, 43, herself teased Degeneres about her no-show status during a recent Ellen stop, and implied that DeGeneres must have been intimidated by the Latin dancing.
While many amazing behind-the-scenes details from the November 2015 nuptials — including Manganiello’s sexy Magic Mike XXL Backstreet Boys dance and Pitbull’s surprise live performance of “Fireball” — have already been revealed, Ferguson had one particularly good story to add to the mix.
“I don’t want to talk about it because it wasn’t my wedding,” Ferguson told DeGeneres, trying to resist her questions. Eventually he caved and shared a funny quip about the couple’s marriage vows.
“Joe’s vows were so sweet, so effusive,” he recalled. “And when it was done, everyone was just like, ‘Oh that was so sweet.’” Then, it was the bride’s turn.
“Sofia gets up and goes, ‘Mine not that good,’” he said, mimicking Vergara’s Colombian accent.
DeGeneres joked that Ferguson’s accent sounded like it was German, rather than Colombian. Vergara’s star-studded nuptials included appearances from her beloved Modern Family costars, like Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Ty Burrell, and her on-screen husband, Ed O’Neill.
For the occasion, the bride wore a Zuhair Murad Couture mermaid-cut gown with a detachable skirt. The moment she said and Manganiello exchanged vows, hundreds of lush white flowers cascaded from the ceiling.
When it was time for the reception, Vergara shortened her skirt and shimmied into the wee hours of the morning with Manganiello. Their gorgeous wedding was also attended by stars like Reese Witherspoon, Channing Tatum, Anna Paquin and even Pee-Wee Herman himself, Paul Reubens.
After recovering from their rousing Palm Beach wedding with their families, the wild couple jetted away on a private island honeymoon in the Caribbean complete with white sand beaches and crystal clear water.
