Viewers are counting on Jinger Duggar to be a beautiful bride. The reality star got engaged to former soccer player Jeremy Vuolo this past summer, and the couple’s sweet proposal aired on the Tuesday, October 11 episode of TLC’s Counting On.
After courting for just a few short months, Jinger traveled to New York to meet a few members of Jeremy’s extended family. Her mother, Michelle, and her sister, Jessa, also made the trip, along with Jessa’s husband, Ben, and their son, Spurgeon.
Although Jinger had no idea her boyfriend had arranged an elaborate rooftop proposal, one Duggar sister was in on the secret. “We know about Jeremy’s plans to propose,” Jessa revealed on the show. “But at this point we don’t think that Jinger has any idea.”
In the days leading up to the proposal, Jeremy took Jinger to the stadium where he used to play soccer. He also took her to his grandmother’s house, where Jinger learned to make homemade meatballs.
On the actual day of the proposal, Jeremy enlisted the help of some friends to execute the surprise. Vuolo, a pastor, planned a sunset photo shoot on the rooftop of a building in New York City, but his proposal plan was nearly derailed when it started raining.
Thankfully, the weather turned in their favor with a beautiful rainbow gracing the sky as the rain stopped. Jinger was seemingly oblivious to everything as Jeremy led her to the rooftop, but she processed the moment when he dropped to one knee.
“Jinger Nicole, will you marry me?” Jeremy asked.
After Jinger said yes, the newly engaged couple hugged–many, many times.
Later, Jeremy, 29, reflected on the special moment. “This woman, who I love and want to spend my life with is now my fiancee,” he expressed. “It’s almost inexplicable, the feeling at that moment.”
Along with Michelle, Jessa, and Ben, several of Jeremy’s friends appeared to congratulate the couple. “This was definitely, by far, the most memorable trip in my life,” Jinger said after getting engaged.
Counting On airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on TLC. Watch the moment above!
