Now they’re counting down the days until their wedding! TLC reality star Jinger Duggar is engaged to soccer player Jeremy Vuolo, TLC confirms to The Knot.
The couple first made the official announcement to People on Tuesday, July 26, releasing a statement about their future union. “So excited to share this news that we are now engaged,” the pair told the mag. “From both of us, thank you all for the countless well-wishes we’ve received during the courtship. We are so excited to take this next step in spending our lives together. We are so grateful for how the Lord has brought us together. It has been an incredible journey so far and we are excited about serving Christ together in the coming days.”
Their engagement announcement was made just one month after the couple revealed their courtship on Counting On’s website. The couple shared their intentions of embarking on a possible future together in a video, telling fans: “We’re happy to announce that we’re officially courting.”
Vuolo explained their understanding of courting in the same clip. “As opposed to a more casual dating relationship, we really want to honor the Lord and be very intentional about how we move forward,” he told viewers.
The future husband and wife first met in May 2015, and subsequently embarked on a missions trip together. “It was there that I really saw his heart and really admired his character,” Jinger said of Vuolo.
The athlete-turned-pastor then asked Duggar family patriarch Jim Bob Duggar for permission to court his daughter in December 2015.
“This opened up the door for Mr. Duggar and me to build a friendship,” the former athlete revealed on his website. “And began this great new chapter of my life with Jinger!”
