That’s no plain train! The designer behind Jinger Duggar’s ornate wedding dress revealed this week in a new interview that there was meaning behind the bride’s long train in her November 2016 wedding to Jeremy Vuolo.
The TLC reality star, who wed Vuolo in Arkansas on November 5, wore an elaborate, lace sleeved gown by Renee’s Bridal and Special Occasions that featured an eye-catching train. That element was something requested by both the bride and groom, who cited a specific passage in the Bible.
“Before Jinger and I met, we exchanged many texts and phone calls,” Renee Miller, the designer and owner of the boutique, told the Duggar family blog. “I tried to listen to her heart, which was difficult because we hadn’t yet met face-to-face. I prayed that I would be able to create a unique dress that would fulfill her dreams.”
The process was intentional for the couple. “Both Jinger and Jeremy desired for the dress to have what I call a ‘train fit for royalty,’ based on a Bible verse that Jeremy had quoted to his wife-to-be,” the designer recalled. “That verse was Isaiah 6:1 (…I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple).”
The bride, who was presented with three initial options, eventually narrowed it down to one–all due to the train. The designer, however, thought it would be even more meaningful if it was elongated.
“I knew I could really hit it out of the ballpark if I could extend that train even longer,” Miller added. “The extension actually didn’t come together until a couple weeks before the wedding.”
A promo video of the upcoming season of Counting On shows the elaborate final product: a gown with a layered train that the bride felt was perfect for her wedding to Vuolo.
Season 3 of TLC’s Counting On premieres January 16.
