Joe Manganiello may just be the most romantic husband ever. The True Blood alum, 40, just revealed what he he gave his wife, Sofia Vergara, for their first wedding anniversary, and {spoiler alert!} it’s seriously swoon-worthy.
“Sofia and I have always put each other’s well-being first, and that’s how I knew she was the one,” Manganiello told Cosmopolitan U.K. in a new interview. “I wrote her a book as a gift for our first anniversary. It was about how we met–as well as our courting–and was about 40 pages long… I love my wife a lot.”
The famous duo–who celebrated one year of marriage last November–shared a series of sweet snaps on Instagram to commemorate the special day. The Magic Mike XXL actor shared a photo of the lovebirds dancing on their wedding day. “Feliz primer aniversario al amor de mi vida.” (“Happy first anniversary to the love of my life”), he wrote alongside the image.
Vergara, 44, showcased her silly side by posting a sexy snap of the newlyweds’ first dance, and a close-up shot of their adorable anniversary cake.
The Modern Family actress began dating the actor in March 2014 after her split from businessman Nick Loeb. “I was on a press tour when I found out Sofia was single,” Manganiello told Cosmopolitan U.K. “I got her number from [her costar] Jesse Tyler Ferguson, then flew to New Orleans to take her on a date.”
Manganiello proposed to Vergara later that year during a vacation to Hawaii over the Christmas holiday, and they’ve been going strong ever since. “We realized very early on that we each had to put the other person’s happiness and well-being ahead of our own,” Manganiello told HOLA! USA in January. “Once you realize that kind of trust has manifested, you hang on for dear life.”
