WWE superstar John Cena visibly got emotional during a new interview—and it was all due to his engagement to Nikki Bella. The Trainwreck actor stopped by Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, December 5, to discuss a range of topics, the biggest point being his spring 2017 proposal to Bella at WrestleMania 33.

Producers at the morning show replayed the scene for Cena, who got misty-eyed in response. “It’s the best moment of my life,” Cena shrugged as co-host Piers Morgan noted the emotion on his guest’s face. “And I couldn’t think of a better place to do it. The WWE has been my family for the past 15 years… We have such a strong connection to our audience.”

Cena said the reaction from the crowd had something to do with it. “If you watch the match back, the audience hated me,” Cena says of his fight that night with Miz and Maryse (another standout WWE couple). “But it’s such a show of respect that once the performance was over, they realize that this is a moment we are both going to remember for all of our lives.”

Thankfully, the most important and valued opinion (from the Bella twin herself) was exactly the affirmation that Cena needed in the moment. “She said yes,” he replied. “I was extremely nervous, because the audience controls our program, and this was in a match with 75,000 people. You just get to the point where you think, ‘Man, this is a good idea’, but then you’re like, ‘What if they start chanting ‘No!”

The proposal happened this past April, and subsequently aired in October on E!’s Total Bellas. “I thought about it for a year and a half. More than that,” he told reporters at WrestleMania.

The couple is enjoying a prolonged engagement, which has allowed them to slowly pull together key details. Thankfully, they have some of the biggest checklist items crossed off already. “I do have a date, I can’t share it yet,” Nikki previously told The Knot in an exclusive interview. “It’s going to be a longer engagement rather than a shorter engagement. I kind of freaked. Not only are John and I are really busy… I want us to have the few weeks before it off and a few weeks after to be in wedding bliss. I can be married forever, so I just want a long engagement. I just want to be a fiancée.”
