He’s a no-frills groom. John Cena says he has one non-negotiable on his wedding day to Nikki Bella, and it’s an incredibly simple request.

The WWE superstar, 40, who proposed to Bella at WrestleMania 33 in early April, brought his fiancee to the premiere of The Wall on Thursday, April 27. As recalled, Cena proposed to Bella during the live broadcast, and got down on one knee with a custom 4.5-carat ring from Tiffany & Co. to reflect their 4.5-year romance. Of course, she said yes.

“I had to retell her things that I told her on that day because she was so happy. She couldn’t process it all,” Cena told Entertainment Tonight at the premiere. “As long as we have that happiness on that day, I think I’m good.”

After the proposal, Bella shared preliminary wedding planning details with The Knot in an exclusive interview. “The one thing [John] told me was, ‘Nicole, I want you to do everything. I want it to be your perfect day,’” she shared. “I was like, ‘Well I want you to join me.’ And he said, ‘Well, I want it to be everything you want.’ So it’s really cute. I know… He treats me like a queen.”

Cena added to ET, “I just wanna make sure that it’s a good day. We’ve made our lives very public and I think the world knows that it’s been a lot to just get to that proposal moment. I want [Nicole] to be as happy as she was at that moment.”

Bella, who attended several Bridal Fashion Week shows, told The Knot that she didn’t expect to plan a wedding anytime soon. “I have no idea [where to begin with the wedding],” she gushed. “I never had a date in mind, because I never thought I’d get married. Now, I’m still just trying to soak in being engaged. I don’t know what season I want. I don’t know what date. I don’t even know how long it takes to plan a wedding.”

One thing is certain: her love for Cena is concrete. “I know that we showcase our love—it’s on a reality show and with the WWE—but I’ve truly found my soulmate,” she told us. “He treats me like a lady. He treats me like an equal… He’ll be talking about a movie and he always just lifts me up.”
