Counting On… another Duggar engagement. John-David Duggar, one of the family members featured in TLC’s Counting On, is engaged to Abbie Burnett following a month-long courtship.
The couple announced their engagement on the family’s website on Wednesday, July 25. “Wow! We are engaged!” the pair expressed in a joint statement. “This feels even more real than before! It was a special moment to share together.”
An accompanying video posted by TLC on Wednesday shows 28-year-old Duggar holding up 26-year-old Burnett’s hand as she reveals her new ring. “You want to see it?” he asks. “It’s official, we’re engaged.”
Duggar proposed to Burnett in an interesting location—an airplane hangar—and came prepared with signage and a ring.
The pair supposedly knew about each other for years, but it wasn’t until Duggar flew to Oklahoma for a church-related event that they met in person. On June 26, the couple announced their courtship.
“The proposal and the ‘YES’ really solidified that we want to spend the rest of our lives together,” the pair concluded in their statement. “One of the most amazing things about following Christ is being able to trust Him to direct your path and lead your life. We are so thankful that He led us to one another. Now we need to start thinking about a wedding!”
The future groom’s parents also chimed in on the engagement news. “They are a wonderful match and make a beautiful couple!” Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar wrote. “Abbie is a lovely young woman, full of tenderness and compassion. She has a deep love for the Lord and we are so delighted that John-David has asked her to be his wife! We love weddings in this family and can’t wait for this next one!”
It’s been a busy season for the Duggar family after the recent wedding of Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson and the birth of Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo’s first child together.
