The Duggar family just got a little bit bigger. John David Duggar married fiancée Abbie Burnett this weekend in an Arkansas wedding ceremony.
Like his previously-married siblings, Duggar’s wedding will also be televised in a TLC special later this month. “We are so excited to be married! It was a beautiful moment and we so appreciate our friends and family for sharing this day with us,” the couple expressed in a joint statement. “Most of all we are thankful to Christ for bringing us together. This is going to be an amazing journey!”
Burnett carried a simple bouquet comprised of cream hydrangeas, blush and coral roses and pops of greenery. She wore a cap-sleeve lace gown and a sparkly headpiece for the church wedding.
Duggar, 28, announced his proposal in late July on his family’s website. He popped the question in an airplane hangar, preparing everything from a cute sign to a petal-filled heart, and of course, the ring. “This feels even more real than before!” he expressed at the time. “It was a special moment to share together.”
While Duggar and Burnett were in the same circle of friends for years, they didn’t officially meet until he flew to Oklahoma for a church event. They had only announced their courtship officially this past June.
Despite the speedy timeline—something that the family is well known for doing in the marital process—the entire reality brood has warmly welcomed Burnett. “They are a wonderful match and make a beautiful couple!” Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar wrote this summer of the pair. “Abbie is a lovely young woman, full of tenderness and compassion. She has a deep love for the Lord and we are so delighted that John-David has asked her to be his wife! We love weddings in this family and can’t wait for this next one!”
