JoJo Fletcher Reacts to Rachel Lindsay’s ‘Bachelorette’ Finale: It Was “Super Intense”

If anyone gets what Rachel Lindsay is currently experiencing, it’s JoJo Fletcher. The season 12 Bachelorette reacted to Monday’s emotional finale and had some advice for the newly-engaged couple now that Bryan Abasolo has been revealed as Lindsay’s final pick.

“Right after, you go through hard times, and it’s not easy to transition into normal life that quickly,” Fletcher told Entertainment Tonight on Thursday, August 10. “I know that I’m not the first to. We had a hard time, Rachel and Bryan will have a hard time, Kaitlyn [Bristowe] and Shawn [Booth], you all go through these situations where you’re trying to figure out it out. If you’re able to get through it, it turns into something very beautiful.”

Fletcher memorably chose Jordan Rodgers—the frontrunner from her season—amongst her sea of handsome suitors in 2016. Still, it wasn’t easy for Fletcher to say goodbye to her finalists. The same applies to Lindsay, who had a contentious moment with her runner-up, Peter Kraus, on the After the Final Rose live special.

“I watched the finale, and I think I was just as drawn and shocked as everyone else and just into it,” Fletcher said Thursday. “The breakup with Peter was super intense but in the finale she looked super beautiful and so happy so I’m happy for them.”

Despite some initial challenges, Fletcher and Rodgers now live together in Dallas as they continue to grow their respective careers. “I think if you just focus on your relationship, not let it get to you—it’s going to get to you but not let it get to you to the point to where you start taking it out on each other—and if you’re able to get through that, then I think your relationship proves itself,” Fletcher added.

Like Abasolo, Rodgers received the First Impression Rose, and the SEC Network analyst proposed in the finale. “Right after we got engaged, we were like, ‘We’re gonna get married!’ We were talking about it and we were like, ‘Whoa! Okay, let’s live life,’” Fletcher told ET. “So we really took this last year to just really be with each other and live life and get into some normalcy, so it hasn’t been a topic of conversation and we never felt pressured. But just last month we were driving in the car and it kind of popped into my head, I was like, ‘Maybe we should start thinking about it now.’ So I’m kind of getting the wedding bug a bit but at the same time, it’s not something we’re just going to rush into.”

Lindsay, meanwhile, told The Knot this past April that she wants to emulate Fletcher’s post-Bachelorette lifestyle—which is essentially going back to some sense of normalcy. “I’ve worked really hard to get to where I am,” Lindsay told us. “I always want to hold true to that. It’s something that I’ve wanted since I was 7 years old. And my dad would kill me if I stopped [law].”

She added, “I really liked the way [JoJo] handled herself during her season. Maybe it’s the connection to another Dallas girl. I like the way she’s carried herself after being the Bachelorette and that’s what I want to emulate.”
