Actor Josh Brolin didn’t have to act on his wedding day; He simply was overcome with joy. A year after marrying Kathryn Boyd in North Carolina, the Only the Brave actor stopped by Live With Kelly and Ryan to reflect back upon his wedding day.
Producers flashed a photo of Brolin and Boyd happily making their exit to a sea of sparklers on their wedding day. “It was a real thing, we didn’t have to act this thing,” Brolin expressed of the moment. “It actually felt really good.”

While planning, Brolin said he happened to be super hands-on groom. “We use this word I don’t really like… I felt really ‘chicky’ while planning,” he mused. “I got very involved. I was really into it.”
The couple opted to marry in a private, outdoor ceremony held at an undisclosed location in North Carolina. After guests started using the custom hashtag, #JBKBStuckTogether, the venue was revealed as the Chattanooga Club.
Guests included Barbra Streisand, Bradley Cooper, Matt Damon, and the groom’s equally famous father, James Brolin. Plus, the pair had a special guest performance by one of their favorite artists. “We had the Avett Bothers. They performed, which was really nice,” he said to Ripa and Seacrest on Thursday, October 19. “They’re a blue grass band. They were touring.”

The timing was perfect: the troupe stopped by with their bus, played three songs, and then departed. However, they caught wind that the toasts were taking place. “They turned off their bus [and] waited until we finished the speeches,” Brolin said. “…I like my Southern people.”
The weather, too, was impeccable that day. Seacrest, who originally hails from Atlanta, noted the precarious summertime weather down South. “It was a 50-50 chance,” the groom said. “It rained up until that morning, it stopped raining. It was an amazing day… We had gotten to that point where you get so stressed out so that you just break down? You either pass out or you end up having a good time.”
Brolin was previously married to actress Diane Lane for eight years before the couple ended their marriage in 2013. That same year, he went to rehab.

To commemorate his anniversary last month, Brolin posted yet another photo from his wedding with a heartwarming caption.
“My life shines brightly because of you,” the Goonies actor expressed. “The way you look at life, what your heart moves to, your mind stretches forward always beautifully and with great care. How you reach toward my children. And the adventures we’ve embarked on are the stuff of legend. Our friends are real. Our family is true. Our marriage is the result of two great friends finding each other and allowing the natural winds of heaven to swirl between them. We are. Happy First Anniversary, my love. Thank you for finding me. I’m the luckiest man I know. #jbkbstucktogether.”
