Save the first dance! Actress Julia Stiles announced on Tuesday, September 26, that she secretly and spontaneously married her fiancé, Preston J. Cook, on a beach in Seattle, Washington.
While the exact timeline of the wedding remains unknown, Stiles announced her newlywed status in a sweet post on Tuesday afternoon. In the photo, her husband wears his rose gold wedding band as he cradles the bride’s burgeoning baby bump. For the casual, beachfront nuptials, Stiles wore a sleeved, lace bohemian-inspired maternity dress by Tiffany Rose Maternity.
“Who doesn’t love a shotgun wedding?” she captioned the photo.
The couple got engaged in Isla Grande, Colombia, on Christmas Eve back in December 2015. “It was a total surprise,” the Save the Last Dance actress told Kelly Ripa last July. “We went on a trip to Colombia with his entire family over Christmas and New Years. So because I’m a lady, I was like, ‘Do not ruin a perfectly good vacation by getting your hopes up. Just let it go. Be in the present moment.’”
It turned out to be the ideal time for Cook, a camera assistant to propose. He also did his research well in advance.
“We had had a conversation waiting for an elevator one day, where he was randomly like, out of nowhere, ‘With jewelry, you don’t really wear silver or platinum. You’re more into gold.’” the 10 Things I Hate About You star shared. “And then I went, ‘What is up with this conversation?’”
The couple frist met on the set of the film Go With Me. From there, their romance blossomed. “I’m so in love,” she told Ripa in the same interview. “Life is great … It was a full moon. We were on a tropical island and he’s a really good man. I found it!”
