It could have been a very different situation. Season 11 Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe revealed she originally tried out for Juan Pablo Galavis’ season of The Bachelor.
In a new podcast episode of Off the Vine, the lead shared that she had submitted an audition tape for season 18 of the show. (The Venezuelan soccer player had previously made his mark on the wildly popular ABC reality series while competing for Desiree Hartsock’s affection on season 9.)
“It was for Juan Pablo’s season,” Bristowe said. “Can you imagine? My whole life would be so different, and mentally I was not prepared at all to be in a relationship.”
The Canadian native said she filmed the clip in Vancouver, and in it, joked about bringing Galavis to the country’s “grassy fields.”
“No wonder they didn’t call me,” she added.
Her friend Bri Cook replied, “They didn’t call you because they didn’t see it in time. They didn’t look at it because we didn’t realize at that point they totally already cast that season. They weren’t even going to look at it because they already had their cast. That’s why they called you, like, a year later.”
Indeed, Bristowe was chosen for farmer Chris Soules’ season 19 the following year. “I thought they saved me for Chris Soules’ season because I talked about grassy fields,” the former Bachelorette noted.
She eventually went on to become a lead, and chose Shawn Booth as the recipient of her final rose.
