Nobody does recycled fashion quite like Kate Middleton. The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out to an Easter service with her husband, Prince William, and various other members of the royal family on Sunday, April 21, smartly dressed in a pale blue Alexander McQueen coat and matching sheath dress, with a gray fascinator atop her head.

It was her jewelry, however, that caught onlookers’ attention: a pair of shimmering diamond earrings that she wore on her wedding day when she married William back in April 2011. The custom-designed, elegant drop earrings were a gift from her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, and were designed to match the Cartier Halo Tiara that she wore on her big day.

The marriage of the second in line to the British throne was led by the Archbishop of Canterbury and was attended by 1900 guests, including foreign Royal family members and heads of state. The earrings consist of a “diamond-set stylized oak leaves with a pear-shaped diamond set drop and a pave set diamond acorn suspended in the center,” according to The Court Jeweller.

Though there could have been a million reasons why Middleton might have chosen to wear those particular earrings on Easter Sunday, the timing suggest that it is perhaps the stylish royal’s way of wordlessly responding to rumors about her marriage.

Sunday also marked an extra special day for the royals, with Easter falling on Queen Elizabeth’s birthday for only the fourth time ever. The Queen turned 93, and in typically spunky fashion, celebrated with a teal coat and hat with hot pink trim.
