When Chris Pratt proposed to Katherine Schwarzenegger, the actor had to find a ring that would perfectly reflect their bright future together. The Jurassic World actor ended up splurging on a brilliant ring that numerous experts tell The Knot set Pratt back at least six figures.

Ritani VP Josh Marion deduced a few details about the piece that Pratt debuted on his Instagram page early Monday, January 14. The exec, who’s been a diamond expert now for two decades, says the ring appears to be an oval-shape diamond that weighs “at least five carats on a petite platinum setting.”
He adds, “It maximizes the sparkle of this stunning diamond. The color and clarity on this diamond are both very high, making this exceptional [piece] appraised at least between $350,000 to $400,000.”
Online retailer JamesAllen.com estimates that the diamond is at least 6 to 7 carats, setting the value at around $400,000. Depending on where the ring—which the brand describes as a cushion-cut stone that’s “classic with a delicate solitaire band”— was sourced, the estimated value can go up to even as far as $750,000.
Blue Nile Chief Merchandising Officer Katie Zimmerman, meanwhile, touches on the disputed cut behind Schwarzenegger’s stone. According to the expert, the newly-engaged author’s diamond appears to be an oval-cut stone rather than an elongated cushion at a minimum of five carats.
“We can guess it’s a higher color and clarity combination, which would value the stone at the lowest $200,000, ranging all the way up to $450,000,” she notes, “depending on the exact characteristics.”
Zimmerman adds that any diamond with an elongated shape like Schwarzenegger’s ring will “sit beautifully on her slender hand, really emphasizing the stone.”
Pratt and Schwarzenegger got engaged this weekend after he had helped the author-turned-influencer move into her new home. “Chris was very sweet when he proposed to Katherine, as he had a romantic speech prepared explaining how important she was to him,” a source told Entertainment Tonight Monday. “Katherine complements Chris and is very good for him.”
