Katy Perry revealed how exactly fiancé Orlando Bloom proposed while chatting with Jimmy Kimmel on Monday, February 25.
“It was very sweet,” Perry revealed. “It was Valentine’s Day.”
Perry and Bloom both took to Instagram on the holiday to reveal their engagement to the world with both sharing a selfie of themselves cozied up together with the singer’s one-of-a-kind ring up front and center.
“Full bloom,” she captioned the pic.
“We went to dinner and I thought we were going to go see some art after dinner, but we pulled up to a helicopter,” she continued as Kimmel noted it was a “very Bachelor” move.
“Yeah. I’m glad I don’t have to go on that show now,” Perry chuckled. “It was really sweet. He asked me to marry him in a helicopter.”
The couple then popped champagne on the helicopter, but the pressure caused a few unexpected incidents. “The funny part is we had champagne in the helicopter and the box was in his pocket,” she recalled, “and he had written down everything he wanted to say on a note.”
While Perry was reading the note, Bloom decided to pull out the ring box, but instead, he ended up breaking the champagne bottle. “He’s pulling out this box that’s too big for his coat pocket, rips his coat pocket, and his elbow goes into the champagne,” she said.
After that, the pair landed on a rooftop where he had planned yet another grand surprise for the night. “My whole family was there and all my friends,” Perry said. “He did so well.”
Finally, Kimmel asked about the ring itself. “I voiced my opinions,” Perry replied.
