So that’s how it went down! Little known details have emerged from Kirsten Dunst’s private engagement to Jesse Plemons earlier this year, which is why Jimmy Fallon decided to recently press the actress for proposal details when she stopped by The Tonight Show.
“I got engaged,” she confirmed Friday along with other tidbits like how they were friends first on the season 2 set of FX’s Fargo. “We got together a year afterwards.”
According to the future bride, Plemons didn’t cry or get emotional during the moment. “I was a little sick when he did it, which was funny,” Dunst said. “But that’s good. Sickness and in health, you know… Well, I was in sweats.”
Dunst, however, knew Plemons was going to pop the question after somebody unintentionally spoiled the surprise. “I could tell on my dad’s face at Christmas,” she joked. “He’s a bad liar.”
The couple reportedly got engaged over Golden Globes weekend, and she proudly showed off her ring—an oval-cut diamond set on yellow gold—several weeks later at the Ralph & Russo Haute Couture show in January. The star was photographed in the front row comparing rings with her show seat mate, model Arizona Muse, who interestingly enough, got married this weekend.
While Dunst didn’t want to share any more details about the moment, she joked with Fallon that she has the show to thank. “I’ll name my kid Fargo Season 2!” she said.
This will be the first marriage for Dunst, who worked with director Sofia Coppola for the third time in the film The Beguiled.
