It’s been five years since they exchanged vows, and Kristen Bell is as sure as she’s ever been that she’s with the person she’s meant to be with. The Good Place actress recently told People that her husband, Dax Shepard, is without a doubt the man for her.
“[I’m] decidedly confident I chose the right person,” she said. “He does almost everything in a ‘manly’ way. He can put a ponytail on our 5-year-old’s hair as manly as he can change his break pads in the driveway.”
Bell, 38, and Shepard, 43, remain one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples, though they have had their share of challenges, both in and out of the public eye.
“When we first got together I had a lot of trust and jealousy issues,” Bell said. “Over the years I have realized what a waste of time these emotions are because he has shown nothing but consistent love, and conducts himself in my absence exactly how he does in my presence. I also think he has gotten funnier over the years!”
In the time that they’ve been together, she added, she’s noted how their relationship has evolved.
“At first I was attracted to the way he made me feel, and now I’m attracted to the things I learn from him.”
The pair dated for approximately five six years before they finally married in October 2013. They now share two daughters, Lincoln, 5, and Delta, who turns 4 next month, and according to Bell, watching Shepard be a father to their children is one of the sexiest things she’s witnessed about him.
“Nothing is sexier than him being a good human,” she said.
Last year, the former Veronica Mars star took part in a Reddit AMA, during which she revealed her best relationship advice. After one participant asked her for her “one major piece of advice for other couples,” Bell replied with some very sage wisdom.
“Try hard. It’s uncomfortable, but worth it,” she said. “Also, be vulnerable. No one does it right, so forgive and then be vulnerable again.”
