As parents of two young daughters, A-listers Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard get only a few hours of alone time together on a daily basis. The way they choose to spend that 1-1 time together, it turns out, is rather relatable to other couples raising little ones.
After they put their daughters, Delta, 3, and Lincoln, 5, to bed, the pair will flip on the TV as part of their nightly routine. “Then, there are two hours of mommy and daddy binge-watching TV time,” Shepard told Us Weekly. “We get that couple hours at night where we fantasize about other people on TV.”
The actor told the mag that they’re currently watching two shows on HBO, including Sharp Objects (based on Gillian Flynn’s bestselling novel) and the new drama Succession.
Other celeb couples to admittedly dabble in this low-key, date night habit include Prince William and Kate Middleton. “We’re both actually quite keen on box sets,” the Duke of Cambridge told BBC in April 2017. “Homeland, we’re big fans of that,” he noted. “And Game Of Thrones.” The Duchess of Cambridge added that they’ll oftentimes order food for nights in—“curry, definitely,” she clarified.
Shepard and Bell married a few years after the Duke and the Duchess, and will celebrate five years of marriage in October. As one of Hollywood’s most down-to-earth couples, the A-listers have frequently opened up about the struggles and triumphs of marriage—including the need for therapy in their relationship.
“We still fight, but don’t take disagreements to heart,” Bell recently told You! Magazine. I know he’s on my team. If you have a long marriage that thrives without therapy, please call me because you are a unicorn!”
