He was worth the wait. When Gilmore Girls standout Lauren Graham signed on to play Sarah Braverman on Parenthood, she had no idea that she’d find true love with her co-star, Peter Krause.

In a new collection of personal essays, entitled Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between), the actress opens up about meeting Krause on the set of the NBC series back in 2010.

“At our age we’d probably both been through ‘showmances’ that went south and made work an uncomfortable place to be,” Graham, 49, writes in the book in an excerpt shared by People. “But ultimately, our mutual wariness gave way — it just sort of happened.”

Graham and Krause now reside together in Los Angeles, and the Gilmore Girls star shares that communication plays an important role in the couple’s relationship.

“I mean, he’s really my favorite person to talk to, and he always makes me laugh,” she told People. “He’s really, really funny.”

Graham is grateful to have a fellow actor as her partner-in-crime, because he understands the ins and outs of being in the industry.

“It’s hard to explain to people when you have a fancy job like being an actor what is challenging about it,” she explained to the mag. “So we just kind of have that shorthand, a shared language, which is helpful.”

Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between) will hit bookshelves nationwide on November 29.

Graham will reprise her role as Lorelai Gilmore for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, premiering November 25 on Netflix. Krause returns as Benjamin Jones for season 2 of The Catch, set to hit the small screen in Winter 2017.
