Damian wasn’t a groomsmaid, but this wedding was still so fetch. Actress Lizzy Caplan, beloved for her portrayal in Mean Girls as the rebellious, sharp-witted Janis Ian, married actor Tom Riley this weekend, her publicist confirms to The Knot.
The Masters of Sex actress and Riley, like several other celebs, opted to exchange vows over Labor Day weekend. The pair chose the scenic destination of Ravello, Italy, to solidify their union before an intimate group of family members and friends.
The groom took to Instagram on Monday to share a photo from the nuptials and wrote: “This one seems fertile. She shall make a satisfactory first wife.”
The Knot confirm that the pair got engaged in May 2016, several months after making their first public debut as a pair. The British producer and actor proposed to Caplan with a vintage-inspired ring.
The two have largely remained mum about their low-key romance, but Caplan alluded to her desire to have a family even before she had met Riley in 2015.
“I actually romanticize the idea of a stay-at-home dad. Partly because I think that’s a very sexy thing, but also because if there are two working actors and both of them get a job and they have a baby, the woman is going to stay with the baby. I see it all the time. It just seems very unfair,” she told Elle in a 2014 interview. “Now, I could have kids and want to do that, I have no idea—but from where I sit now, that does not sound all that appealing to me. I really want kids, and I want to be fully involved in their lives, but I don’t want to sacrifice my own goals to be a mother.”
