It’s been 25 years since Magic Johnson married his wife, Cookie. To celebrate their upcoming wedding anniversary, the pair made their way to Venice, Italy, this past Labor Day weekend to enjoy the city and document their trip via Instagram.

Following the vacation abroad, the Johnson family traveled to the Yacht Club de Monaco in France for an anniversary celebration, where they were joined by 100 of their closest family members and friends.

Notable guests included LL Cool J, Steve Harvey, Smokey Robinson, Pat Riley, and Cedric the Entertainer, as well as the couple’s grown children.

Cookie, 57, chose a black, strapless, formfitting gown for the celebration, while her 57-year old husband donned an ivory tuxedo jacket with black pants and a bow tie. Guests were dressed to the nines for the star-studded event, and judging by the photos, everyone had a great time.

“Happy 25th Anniversary to my best friend, my beautiful wife, @thecookiej! #EC25, Johnson captioned a sweet shot of the duo dancing.

Johnson and his bride were married back in 1991 – the same year he tested positive for HIV. Cookie was pregnant with the couple’s son E.J. when the basketball pro got the news.

Ready to embark on his 13th season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Johnson was shocked when the team’s doctor revealed his blood test results. “The worst thing about it is, I knew I was gonna hurt [Cookie], cause she had waited for me, been patient with me, supported me, and now I’m about to break her heart,” he revealed on Oprah’s Next Chapter.

Johnson gave his new wife the opportunity to leave him, but she stayed by his side. He shared with Oprah that Cookie “slapped [him] upside [his] head and said, ‘We’re going to beat this together,” and, “Let’s get down on our knees and pray,’ and that’s what we did.”

Soon after, the newlyweds learned that Cookie and E.J. did not have HIV. After hitting that all-time low early in their marriage, Johnson and his wife bounced back, and they’ve been going strong ever since.

The famous couple has had many adventures over the years. Prior to their trip to Europe, they got dolled-up to attend President Obama’s 55th birthday party at the White House.

It may seem as if the happily married duo enjoys a lavish lifestyle, but they’re just as content spending time with their grandchildren watching baseball.

“Happy Birthday Earvin @magicjohnson!!!” Cookie penned on Instagram back in August – when they celebrated his 57th year by taking their grandchildren to a Dodgers game. “Let’s celebrate!!! 57 years of excellent health! Woo Hoo!!! Praise God!!! You have been a true blessing to our family and I love you with all my heart, I pray that God will continue to have favor on you, because you are obedient to His word. You have become the most amazing husband a girl could ask for. I love you so much. Happy Birthday my Love.”
