We’ll always remember… Mandy Moore and Shane West as the ultimate couple in 2002 sob-fest a Walk to Remember.
The stars–who played high school sweethearts Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan in the film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ heart-wrenching novel–reunited this past weekend with the director of the movie, Adam Shankman.
After grabbing dinner, the trio took to Instagram to react to the nostalgic moment. “Welp. These 2 gentlemen are still some of the best around,” the This Is Us actress expressed. “Loved catching up with ya, @theshanewest and @adamshankman. My ❤ is full. #awalktoremember #reunion.” Moore’s on-screen love interest added, “Last night after the Super Bowl, I got to see these two wonderful people…..”
West also gave credit where it was due. “Had to steal the pic, Hun #awalktoremember #reunion.” Shankman shared another delightful image and wrote, “Over 3 hour catch up dinner with @mandymooremm and @theshanewest. After 15 years their love is still like the wind: i cant see it but i will always feel it. Love u guys soooo much. #awtrreunion #AWalkToRemember#proudpapa.”
Golden Globe nominee Moore recently teased a Walk to Remember reunion in an interview with Entertainment Weekly pegged to the movie’s 15th anniversary.
“Shane was so cool. Everything about him — the way he dressed, the little cigarettes that he smoked, and the music he listened to,” the former pop star recalled. “He was the character to me and there was definitely a part of me that absolutely fell in love with him. I don’t know if I could discern the difference between him and the character at that point in time because, again, it was my first experience doing anything like this and I was a 16-year-old, impressionable girl. I was just so caught up in the moment and the experience. I absolutely walked away from that project so convinced that there would never be a project as special as that. Shane was so wonderful.”

West echoed his former co-star’s sentiments. “She really grew up on that movie. We all did, but we were all in our twenties apart from her,” he said in the same issue. “I might have had a baby face and that’s great, but I believe I was 24. There was someone else—who I’m not going to say right now—whose name was batted around for Mandy’s role. I remember I wasn’t keen on that idea and thankfully it didn’t happen.”
As recalled, the couple got married in the movie in an emotional, tear-inducing wedding ceremony. Watch here (and prepare the tissues!)
